Neelam Kothari is an Indian jewellery designer and former actress. In the decade of the nineties she worked in many films. She’s one of the most unpredictable ladies in Bollywood. Nileam is known from Hatia (1988), Agnepat (1990) and Diwanga (2002). She even became popular for a small role in the early days of Karan Johar Kuch Hota High where she played VJ Neelam.
She made her debut with Jawaani (1984) alongside debutant Karan Shah. Subsequently, together with Govinda, she starred in the films Love 86 (1986), Sindoor (1986), Khudgarz (1987), Hatya (1988), Farz Ki Jung (1989), Taaqatwar (1989) and Do Qaidi (1989). She starred alongside Chunky Pandey in Aag Hee Aag (1987), Pap Ki Dunia (1988), Hatron Ke Hiladi (1988), Ghar Ka Chiraag (1989), Mitti Aur Sona (1989).
The greatest success of his career remains Gar Ka Chiraag for Rajesh Hannah in 1989 and Agnepath in 1991.
Beginning of life
Neelam Kothari was born on the 9th. November 1969, born in Hong Kong to a family from Gujarat. His father was a popular vintage jewelry designer, and his mother’s name was Parvin Kotari. As a child she learned to play the keyboard and dance jazz ballet. His family is active in the traditional jewellery industry and produces high quality jewellery. She was educated at the Island School where she was a member of Rutherford House.
After growing up in Hong Kong, his family moved to Bangkok. Neelam came to Bombay in 1983 to visit his grandparents. She’s friends with Shishti Bel, who lives in the same house as her grandparents. They became good friends playing tennis every day. Shishti’s father was the famous Bollywood director, Ramesh Bel. When he saw the Nilam, he immediately offered her the lead role in his 1984 film Jawaani. Neelam decided to put his hand on acting, but his parents refused because they weren’t interested in Hindi films. Eventually they came to an agreement and Neelam signed a contract for the film Jawaani (1984) with Karan Shah, Tina Munim’s nephew. But the film made a lot of noise in the audience.
Neelam was a successful actress in the mid-eighties. She made her acting debut in the film Jawaani (1984). The film was a disaster for the box office, but her beautiful eyes were noticed and she began to receive several film offers.
She became famous after the release of her film Ilsaam in 1986. It was shot for Govinda, who made her debut in this film. The film was a box-office success and the screens were a great success.
